That's part of my point. Their artists may not necessarily need to sell a monstrous amount of albums and/or singles for them to get their money back, plus profit.
Less promo, less money spent, less work, less sales. More promo, more money spent, more work, maybe more sales. Record label may get the same profit either way.
While Jive doesnt easily drop their artists, I think its the artists themselves that suffer with their "low" sales relative to other artists of the same caliber but of different record label. They always get compared.
