Anyway I think Katy is a good songwriter. Not exceptional, but she's capable of writing good, direct songs that don't come off as pretentious at all. Look at those songwriters who try to be weird and innovative but instead only come off as ridiculous and flop so hard that they have to stop making music in order to be taken into consideration. Katy stays fine, she learns from the others' mistakes, and she ain't pulling no Beyoncé.
Thinking of You is a great example of how great she can be, as much as you guys like to slam it.. Mannequin is totally something a teenager would write and it makes sense. Also, I love the actual song OOTB

I don't understand why Katy's own stans try to downplay her. What's wrong with you guys? If you don't like her lyrics what are you even doing here?
She has some messy lyrics like the plastic bag and the unzip and strip ones, she uses a lot of clichés... but her lyrics speak directly to the listener and anyone can relate. Of course, several songs were written to be hits, but her more personal songs prove that she's a good lyricist with actual talent so y'all can stop saying "omg I wish she would hire songwriters" "her lyrics suck she ain't 13 no more" if you want your fave to write barely understandable lyrics with a dark meaning that only she can understand go stan for Edyta Górniak

PRISM was her worst collection of lyrics though, that was the problem. I have always loved OOTB because it has her best, and quirkiest lyrics which is why I love Katy Perry! PRISM just has too many clichés, it's just disappointing although I do still love her music..I am a stan.
