That's not what I said, but there can only be 5 so the Oscars have to pick the five with the most media buzz five "most talented" options Like how Gaga and Dunst were both award-worthy this year, but the Globes had to pick who deserved the award more. It doesn't mean the other was bad, just that they felt the winner would bring in better ratings gave a better performance that year.

Of course the Oscars are biased when like 90% of the voters are white and 99% of roles go to white people, even if not deserved. They need more diversity in Hollywood and the committee in order for poc to be nominated.

They can't nominate what is not there. This is 100% on studios not trusting black actors with major roles due to box office (specifically international box office). But I doubt they do major promo for black lead films internationally.

I would much rather we get excellence nominated instead of a so-so performance just to accommodate us. The only black actor who was snub was Idris. Ryan Coogler was also snub for directing Creed.

well it's true but you can't really pretend like their race didn't matter and gave them an edge to get a nom. white actors in general get more chances than a poc getting anything

It's like as if those emails didn't leak saying exactly what you said.

POC actors are not casted as much because studios doesn't feel they can carry a movie as a lead role.

The reason white people have a better shot at getting an Oscar nom is because they have a better shot of getting roles that WOULD get the nomination. The issue is with casting studios. I guarantee you some of these roles that got nommed COULD have been played by a black person (who would also be nommed) if Hollywood wasn't a bunch of racists
