Even from other minorities, black people get a bad reputation for advocating frequently and not going with flow.
You're only getting support from people who are very uneducated about race relations in the U.S.
Okay, gays/LGBT didn't get represented? talk about it
Asians left out? Talk about it
Latinos? talk about it
people who identify as non-humans? talk about
why attack blacks for talking about it?

Well, thank you for the compliments!
As for the rest... I've never denied that members of other minorities can discriminate against blacks. They absolutely can as a super short grindr search would prove! That said, this doesn't mean all black people are therefore unable to discriminate against other minorities either.
My point about representation is groups should be banding together, not just looking at for themselves. LGBT people and black people talking about their lack of representation collectively will have a stronger than both separately
And I GTG to class now!

But what I'm really trying to say is, even if there were no possible nominees that were minorities (I'm sure there were) there SHOULD BE
There's NO excuse for 100% white people for 20 nominations..in 2016, it's really sad
These boring white stories are getting old
There needs to be more roles for people of color in major films

You people was referring to the idiots on this website that need to complain about everything.
and I agreed that Idris was snubbed. He should've been nominated, and I think that was more of a old poeple not using netflix thing and not a black thing.
I just don't understand why certain minorities always need to complain when they don't get something their way. If y'all are so mad, go back to the drawing board and make something undeniable, and hire Cynthia Schwartz to compaign it to the ****ing 9s and get your Oscars. That's what happened with 12 Years a Slave, and look what happened. Same with precious...

I hate race threads on ATRL
But not surprising. Hollywood rarely cast, much less nominate minorities. What else is new?

I'm calling a spade a spade here.
And yes, I know that these posts called for "diversity," but then the only disadvantaged group mentioned was blacks. And the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED LAST YEAR. I'm not putting up with it again

You really need to cut the ******** with this stupid criticism that makes no sense
Just because you see a few BLACK PEOPLE being upset that there are no BLACK nominees (maybe cause they're black?) doesn't mean that they're excluding other minorites and believe other minorites don't matter. I'm sure any of the "black people protesting the oscars" would also agree that other minorites deserve a chance too
You're just reaching because you're personally bothered by black people, just admit it
"I'm not putting up with it again" ...okay girl

This doesn't make sense to me. So the only films/performances worthy of recognition were given by whites. Absolutely no POC? For two years straight? There's obviously a problem

its funny how confused and angry some people get when a movie/actor they find overrated gets nominated. in their mind, that shows that the oscars are ******** and super political etc
but when no black actors or movies are nominated they wanna protect the image of the oscars as a recognition of excellence. the excuses will pour in "well maybe they weren't good enough " so stupid and transparent

& if Hispanics & Asians don't wanna make a big deal about it, THAT'S their problem, just because they don't want to stand up & defend their work doesn't mean black actors & supports have to stay mute, ...makes zero sense. ....logic - because other minority's are ok with being ignored for their talent & work, black ppl should shut up & stop making a big deal about it? Ok got it.

Tho if I'm wrong, I'm happy to have someone correct me
Honestly, these protests just hurt causes. Did the Oscars nominate any LGBT, Asian, Latina, etc. people last year and this year? Anyone with any kind of mental disorder? Any children? (I haven't checked, so again, correct me if in wrong) No? Wow! They must hate all LGBT, Asian, Latina people, all people with mental disorders, and all children. Or maybe no one in said groups was Oscar worthy this year. It happens
You could argue Hollywood's racist casting people discriminated and took their chances away, but that's still not the Oscar's fault (tho it's very possibly true)

Shameful. At least we still have a good chance of a Mexican Best Director - but it's definitely FAR from enough.
Also, re: people talking about black actors not having strong enough performances. The problem is NOT that there weren't good performances - look at Straight Outta Compton, or Tangerine. The problem is that these performances are not perceived to be on the same level as white roles and are seen as too "ratchet" or "ghetto".

& the funny thing is, I genuinely don't care. But the issue I have is people trying to down play every time black people want to stand up for something. nobody makes a big deal about it when it's white privileged , but once black ppl start complaining "everything ain't about y'all" "you people complain about everything" "all lives matter not just black" like damn , the minute we call **** out the table get flipped as if we're self centered and attention seeking.
