Asylum is the only finale to ever completely break that rule. Somehow.

Though honestly, the Hotel ending was pretty solid all things considered. I walked away without scratching my head over incomprehensible, glaring plotholes, all the characters were treated well and given at least acceptable endings, and it actually felt like an ending, so all in all it blew the FS and Coven endings out of the water

I'm not totally sure I 100% loved it, but I did enjoy it enough, at least. It's certainly not seaason ruining. Though I would have preferred the Hotel becoming an inescapable personal hell for each ghost like I expected

So my one take away of those whole episode is that in the year 2022 Shirley MacLaine is still alive

Which is more than I can EVER HOPE FOR from a Ryan Murphy finale. Therefore, I semi-enjoyed it I don't get why everyone was expecting a MAdness Ends when it was exceedingly obvious we weren't going to get one.

The only bad thing about the finale was that it was actually such a happy ending. I expected something a lot more sinister or suffering like when Fiona ended up in a knotty pine house.

I do like that John died outside of the hotel so he has to suffer by waiting a year to see his loved ones. Poor it.

Anyway, unpopular opinion but my favorite seasons are Hotel and Coven because I like a little camp with my horror. Asylum and Murder House are still great and Freak Show remains the worst. It's the only season I didn't care for watching with full attention.

Agreed. I was really expecting everyone to get something of a downer ending. The happy ending was interesting and entertaining but... as I've saidm the Hotel should've become a personal hell on earth

Loved the Finale.
Watched It Twice and was Blown Away.
Such a great season, Gonna miss the Hotel Cortez, and all of It's occupants.

Just finished the finale. It should have ended with episode 11. It was clear that the writers ran out of things to do with this story. I thought something interesting was going to happen with Billie Dean, but it was such a non-event.

And not them basically doing a rehash of Devil's Night at the end, aka the worst episode of the season next to The Ten Commandments Killer.
