In The Night is another airplay-driven hit as well.
Yeah. Radio was going to play pretty much whatever his next single was considering his momentum from The Hills, even if listeners didn't really like it (and they don't, which explains the relatively lacking sales and streaming numbers).
Sure OOTW was always going to be an airplay driven, but a peak at #49 on iTunes so far since the video release is terrible. It should be selling a bit more at least to convince me that people like it. Or have an upward movement on iTunes. It's stagnant / going down slightly since the video release. That's just bad.
You could also argue that it's a bit sonically different than her last few singles. But yes, ultimately, it's going to be pretty difficult to sell that song when the parent album has already sold nearly six million copies.
The fact that it was a sales #1 when it was first released shows that people were initially here for it.

In The Night and Out Of The Woods are examples of whats wrong with pop radio. Once you're popular they'll spin you like crazy no matter how the public is reacting to them.
I like both songs btw. Out Of The Woods is actually fantastic.

I wonder if he will pass her. I have a feeling he's about to plummet on all formats so its hard to say.

Getting up there really quick!
Out of the Woods is the worst 1989 single so far other than Bad Blood so at least the GP has taste in which one to ignore so far.
Bad Blood is truly awful, but Out Of The Woods is better than Blank Space/ Wildest Dreams in my opinion. Style and Shake It Off are in a league of their own though.
