Artpop isn't as bad as ATRL says, but it's kind of a mess. A listenable mess, but a mess nonetheless. The Fame is just so smart, The Fame Monster is pop paradise, and Born This Way was also bonkers but Gaga seemed more in control of the material.

I think y'all let the singles being grouped in the first half of the album fool you. Objectively speaking, Born This Way has her best lyrics and best production.

Born This Way > The Fame Monster > The Fame > ARTPOP

And no, don't talk to me about any of Born This Way's worst songs to argue my claim because none of them are as nonsensical as the "blueprint electronic symphonic al poco bluffin muffin" **** Gags tried to pass off as songwriting in The Fame.

09-11 electro pop songs generally all sound dated in my ears. The productions are just really boring to listen to. BTW undeniably has a much better production than her previous two albums(songs like Government Hooker,Electric Chapel,Judas,Bloody Mary) but too many duds(The queen,Bad kids,Amen.. to name a few).
Artpop on the other hand has great production throughout pretty much all of the songs. Even songs with terrible lyrics like Donatella have excellent production. I also think it's the first album where she matches her eccentric appearance with eccentric pop music.Maybe Artpop will suffer the same fate in the future but for now, it is her best to me.
