Asians don't want to be white, that's a common misconception (like Beyst having talent). They don't actually like white people mostly, Japan for example is extremely insular and they don't like ANY foreigners; Korean families will look down on their children if they date white people (happened to a friend).
They want to have light skin, which doesn't equal being white. Japanese people for example have basically the same skin tone as any European. They want pale skin because historically it meant that you didn't have to work in the fields and do physical labour and therefore had money and were upper class and could spend all day indoors where the sun wouldn't darken you. Same thing in India as far as I know.
