That's not where it comes from. It comes from the fact that Latin American colonies had slavery too and they were exclusively black slaves, making black people the default lowest strata in society just like in North America. Additionally, the Spanish Empire imposed a system of classification based on ancestry where (to put it very broadly) the more white you had in you, the higher up you were in society. That's why a lot of mixed Latin Americans will see themselves as white while in Latin America, and be considered white by society, and then not be considered white when they go to a country like the US. But then there also are Latin Americans who are of exclusive European ancestry too.

Yeah, but a lot of these Latinos with the anti-black sentiments (as Nicole also said) have fair skin, and look down upon those with darker skin tones.

But also, there's Latinos who have dark skin, are clearly of African descent, and yet are still anti-black.
