I just don't know what to make of Gemma after tonight. The "I want my shoes back" comment annoyed me and the way she was telling Tiffany to calm down felt patronizing too, but at the same time, I'm not sure if she was actually looking out for her there or not. I'm conflicted.

Tiffany doesn't know who David Bowie is and there's a David living in the house w/ them, I'd say it was pretty logical that Tiffany assumed that she was talking about a housemate.

Exactly. I can't really blame Angie even though it would have been avoided if she had thought about it beforehand. But the reactions from the rest of them, bar Nancy I mean, isn't the fact that Tiffany knew something was wrong and went to try and comfort her enough to show she had good intentions.
