A lot of people outside of atrl know at least the specific #1s with impressive longevity. We're surrounded by so much media that it's impossible to not have at least one feed/site/whatever that told you about Happy, Blurred Lines, Hello, etc. being #1s. The GP actually caring about #1s is another thing.
