People do act weird about celebrity deaths. I remember a long time ago some Aaliyah fan talking about how she or he vividly remembers everyone freaking out in school over her dying. When I told the person, she died on a Saturday, they flipped out. I remember the same things happening after 9-11. Everyone in NY had a story. Schools and workplaces being either locked in and on Code Red or quickly evacuated... People being trapped on the subways.. These things did happen, but most of the people who claimed it happened to them were outright lying . Why do people want to be in the action so bad?

I had the OPPOSITE experience. I posted a sardonic comment on Twitter about Robin Williams not being dead, just stuck in Jumanji, and people thought it was heartfelt and sweet and I received DMs on Twitter, private messages on Facebook, and Wall Posts on ATRL about how they thought the comment was so lovely. I played along and was like, "Yeah, he'll be missed." But in my mind, I was like, "This was a complete and total backfire. I don't care about this coke addict at all."
