The music industry was ALWAYS singles-driven. In the 60s, most artists did not even record albums. Just singles. And they were always written factory style, and sold for cheap. This is no new development. Apparently, the Beatles popularized albums. The album craze peaked in the 1990s, then the industry quickly went back to form. I wouldnt be surprised if in the future we go back to the 1950-60s model and artists just stop making albums together and just put out multiple singles every year.

I know. I always think that, too. It's always humourous how members place importance on albums. Albums don't matter today, and they never really mattered. Quick little singles will always matter and will never not matter (because they make money the fastest, and satisfy the general public). And that's why Beyoncé is
furious about no one caring about her albums, but caring about Taylor Swift's singles (you can tell Beyoncé secretly
hates Taylor Swift).
It's like no one on ATRL has ever seen one modern movie about music in the 60's, 50's, et cetera. Isn't everyone on this forum a homosexual? Surely they've seen "Dreamgirls" with Beyoncé. Don't you remember seeing how they had only one single on that
huge record disc? That's how music was sold back then: one single at a time, on a huge disc. No albums.
And that's what it's going back to today (without the huge discs).
