I love non basic, Asian female rap and that's all I need to say. EXY was done so wrong in UR and by that I mean she should have waited until after Cosmic Girls debuted (later this month!) before going on the show, but if this song is anything to go about, she's hopefully going to have a good career ahead of her. Her rapping ability is better than most female idol rappers who have been in the game for years.
Let me just say now that Kylie is really the only pop girl I really care about. I love how this start's off with Giorgio's Italian monologue which adds intrigue and mystery to the song. The song is also much more sultrier and darker then some of her discography too and I love it, I wouldn't mind ha next album sounding like this at all.
Honestly, anything from this album could have made this list (), but ultimately I decided to go with my most played one (I think it has like over 100 plays at least). The instrumental is just lovely and calming and relaxing and matched with Otsuka's standout lyrics and soothing vocals, it sure is great.
Without a doubt the longest song on any list, clocking in at about nine and half minutes, this song is absolutely brilliant. The chaotic intro then transforms into a very mysterious and trance-inducing dance track with synths emphasizing the chorus. Her lyrics are fantastic as always and the much shorter video is quirky which really works with the track.
EDIT: MESS I just noticed the spelling mistake on the graphic
After disappearing after Wonder World and a line-up change, the Wonder Girls are finally back! This time they're back with an 80s band concept, and it's definitely a winner. All the songs on the album were written by the girls except from the title track I Feel You, which has an amazingly aesthetically pleasing video. The tracks that Yenny (Baby Don't Play & One Black Night) are definitely some of my favourites and her writing skills really shine, I hope she writes on their next album. (which JYP confirmed later in the year!)
I also own this album signed by all the members, so that's nice.
After their last studio album of original material (which is one of my favourite albums of all time.) was released 8 years ago, they finally comeback with Recreational Love! I just love this cute little indie-pop duo because all of their music is just so breezy and pleasant to listen to. This album is just full of cute and relaxing gems and it's a shame most of y'all don't know them.
Ah, the first ever Korean group I listened to. (Hoot by them still has a special place in my heart) Although I was extremely underwhelmed by all three of the title tracks (Lion Heart's visuals were cute, I guess?) and because my favourite member was kicked out left for undisclosed reasons, I decided to give #OT8 albums a go and fount this gem. This R&B tinged song is very cutesy and very chilled out, the lyrics are adorablely cute with all the water metaphors and I love the rain sound that opens and closes the track.
And on a side note it reminds me of the guy I like, even though it probably shouldn't so there's that.
I've already said how much I liked Ryn Weaver's debut album, but I didn't mention the title track because it's here. I just love the production and instrumental on this, especially the last 35ish seconds. The song is also very Passion Pit but I'm not surprised given that Michael Angelakos worked on this song and the album as a whole.
For some strange reason, when I first heard this I thought she was Scottish for some reason.
