The funny thing about Rihanna is that her downfall has always been trying to be Beyoncé. If she would have continued to want to be a singles artist and picked basic ass hit songs again (though Lean On is pretty good), NONE of this would have happened. It's the simple fact that she wanted to do what Bey did and be thought of as innovative, a true artist and get that critical acclaim.
You can tell that Bey got in her head. It's obvious that Rihanna watched Life Is But a Dream and all the Self-Titled stuff over and over again. She was all "I don't like my songs anymore. I want songs that I would still want to sing years from now."
Now, chasing Beyoncé might have ended Rihanna permanently, which I guess is fair because trying to be Beyoncé is what started her career in the first place so....
