I think I'm pretty realistic. Mariah is a has been (but legend she won) and her last hit that's remembered is We Belong Together, although Obsessed's lyrics are lowkey iconic. Gaga hasn't been relevant since Born this Way. ARTPOP was essentially Applause then end era, plus Cheek to Cheek is only relevant to oldies. A lot more people do like her now though, honestly.

For instance, I know damn well that while the Paparazzi VMA performance was great, and I like the rest of the Monster's completely remember it, but the GP would assign her to the meat dress as opposed to that performance. It's not iconic, no matter how hard my fellow Monsters try to make it iconic.

OMG Funny Story. I watched one of these challenge videos and one of them sang a line from TMB and it made me go back into Mariah's Discography and it's part of the reason why I'm a bigger fan of hers today

What Gaga is doing now is re-working her image. She's not really amassing a slew of new fans and the old ones who left won't fall for this jazz schtick. But emphasizing her talent is a necessary step to full recovery.
The real test will come when she releases new music. And if it's anything like ARTPOP or BTW...

I had a snow day the day after the Oscars and literally everyone was talking about it everywhere. Every News Station, Talk Show, Night Show, it felt like she was "it" again.
I went into this without viewing the trailer and expecting another cliche, indie flick about girl meets boy, falls in love, gets heart broken and tells the heartbreak through her diary. Complete opposite. More layers to this film than I expected. And the protagonist is great.
The Oscars is definitely a defining moment in her career and a lot of people talked about it, it was the highlight of biggest night in the entreatment industry after all.
