If it's a bigger phenomenon than Star Wars like Potter fans say, then why did a 40 year old franchise demolish a franchise that just came out? Keep in mind that Star Wars was not shown in theaters worldwide in the 70s.
Because Potter fans demand quality and will not rush to the theatre for some unoriginal remake. There is not one HP movie that's better than the book.
China is going to make or break TFA, whether she is #1 or #2 WW. I think the movie is going to keep a 50/50 ratio and possibly make a billion both domestically and worldwide (without China). Considering they didn't have to pay for their own marketing (other companies paid Disney to use Star Wars in their own ads), they are gonna be making a killing with that domestic gross.

I agree but The Prisoner Of Azkaban movie was FLAWLESS, it's always SO underrated because it was a more mature & dark take of the book (hence why it didn't do as great as the other movies @ the box office).
They could always remake the HP movies in a decade or two, the movies low-key are nowhere near as iconic or beloved as the books. But the supporting cast of HP is just SO good. All of that UK royalty. All they were missing was Vanessa Redgrave.

Agrih'd. Has any of the Star Wars directors went on to win the Academy Award for Best Director? Asking for a friend.
Chamber of Secrets, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix were not good movies though. Well cast with good music but not that good. Especially compared to the books. DH1 and Prisoner of Azkaban were the best movies. I really don't remember Half Blood Prince though, I'd have to rewatch it. I loved the book.
