I think with Sorry and Love Yourself smashing simultaneously we can pretty much lay to rest the notion of "Dark Horse-ing" being a real phenomenon. In the case of Dark Horse and Unconditionally/Birthday, the problem wasn't that Dark Horse stole the thunder of those other songs or whatever, it was that those two songs just didn't have nearly the amount of hit potential everyone thought they had and Dark Horse just happened to be a runaway monster hit sandwiched between the two.
