I'm going to go with what the official account of what happened instead of some blog.

The police account wouldn't have all of the information anyway, and they aren't always accurate either (unfortunately some LEOs lie). More importantly, these reports often leave out any physical assaults on the man from the woman due to the "Man Up" culture. Here are some additional links:

Also, here is this:
As Chris Brown negotiates a plea deal, the R&B singer is making it known Rihanna struck him first that infamous night in Los Angeles. Why does he think it matters?
Because he's negotiating a plea deal, according to TMZ, and has been charged with two felonies for allegedly beating his girlfriend Rihanna. If she hit him first, his lawyers believe, it's not a felony:
Sources say Rihanna was the first one to strike — slapping and striking Brown "numerous times" while he was driving, after seeing the text message from another woman.
Supposedly, this version of events is reflected in the official police report. Floating the story publicly fits perfectly into Brown's dual PR strategy of appearing remorseful even while shifting some blame for the beating to Rihanna.
EDIT: Chris Brown overreacted, there's no doubt about that. However, since I have a good friend who was regularly physically assaulted by a girlfriend,
even in front of his children! He called me one night so I could hear what she was doing to him. The day he finally left she destroyed or stole everything he had of worth. And the police
refused to file any charges against her ever despite the overwhelming evidence of everything she had done to his body and his property. So that's why I won't put 100% trust in this police report.
