Those stupid DJs keep remixing them and people who are oblivious to music love it. The ammount of times I've heard Take Me To Church remix in a gay club Evening was irredeemably ruined every time.

The best way to tell how much propaganda is a factor in is to see how said franchise or product performs in obscure countries that have a more independent media or no hugely visible 24-7 corporate-backed mass media machine ala America. I always think it is striking what Russia gravitates toward. No shade. Their taste.. is interesting.. The Chinese are Pavlovian dogs for anything American much more so than all of Euro even..
