Ugh, I remember when a guy who played a director of Gaga's movie in AHS said on AVClub that Gaga smells incredible and not everyday you meet someone as good as her.
It's intentionally child-like, she's releasing the emotion and grief that she's felt towards her mother since she was five years old. The whole song is pretty much like that, it's hardly deep on the surface, but with a little bit of thought processing, you realise it's pretty clever and intentional.
If you want proof she can write about the loss of her mother in a poetic and emotional way, listen to Mer Girl.
Wait, for real? I had no idea; that's pretty clever, actually. Where did she say this? I'd love to read up about it. American Life >

I worked on this episode! I was the 'director' of the Arabian Nights movie they were shooting with Valentino. I have to say Ms. Gaga smelled terrific.

"Can I tell you," he began. "I've been doing press for the past four days with Rihanna and Steve [Martin, who's also in the movie], but, Rihanna smells so good. I am not kidding. She has a scent."
He says her smell is so distinct that he can even tell where she's been.
"At one point I took the elevator down to press in the hotel where we were doing it, and I went" -- at this point he sniffs the air loudly -- "'She was just in here. She was just in here' And they said 'No' and I said 'Oh yeah.' And I went into the press and I go, 'Were you just in the elevator?' She goes 'Yeah' and I go, "I smelled you.'"
