They don't want to acknowledge context because that will expose the flaw in their argument.
Their arguments are as weak as saying
Kesha debuted at #1 with animal and went platinum
shania peaked at #2 with come on over and went 20x platinum.
But it didn't hit #1.
the #1 selling album in 2007 was the high school musical soundtrack that sold what 3 or 4M albums in the US.
Britney ranked top 3 with Baby one more time and went 14x platinum.
not the #1 album of the year.

That said, since their faves haven't surpassed or matched they are accidentally acknowledging that their faves are less than.
