 | Conchita Wurst - Conchita
The debut album by the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 winner, and one of my favorite albums of the year. Its sound is very European, with a lot of operatic elements and some dance pop. I feel sorry for all those who haven't heard it.

 | Polina Gagarina - Spasibo, rodnoy...
This is an unofficial compilation featuring Polina's singles since 2010. It's extremely rare, and I was lucky to find it for €26. It's now out of stock so it's worth something like €250.

 | Kalomira - Secret Combination
Another Eurovision album, this time from the girl who represented Greece in 2008 and arrived 3rd. Her song, "Secret Combination", is my 2nd favorite Eurovision entry of all time after Polina's. It's impossible not to dance to its folk rhythm.
Favorite: Secret Combination
Least favorite: Fall to You |
 | Emmelie de Forest - Only Teardrops
The debut (and so far only) album by the Danish winner of the Eurovision in 2013. It's a folk-inspired album and it's really solid, it's a shame she flopped and fell into oblivion shortly after her win.

 | Ruslana - Wild Dances
This is the best-selling album of all time in the Ukraine, Ruslana's home country, with more than 700,000 copies sold. This record is the definition of cultural appropriation: the good sis went in the mountains to live with the Hutsul, a nomadic population who inhabits the Ukrainian mountains, and basically used their traditional music and clothes to create music and image that led her to become the number one Ukrainian music legend. ATRL would hate her.

 | Maria Haukaas Storeng - Hold On Be Strong
Maria is the Norwegian queen of soul music. She's extremely talented and she can reach whistle notes. My mom lives for this album.

 | Doris Dragović - Krajem vijeka
Thanks to Doris and to this 1999 dance album (the title means "at the end of the century"), I started stanning for Croatian music. Doris is basically the Cher of Croatia. She's really nice, she always likes my posts on Instagram!

 | Geri Halliwell - Scream If You Wanna Go Faster
I don't know why I bought this album, but Geri has always been my favorite Spice Girl. So spontaneous and full of life, and she always looked like the one who wasn't playing a cheesy character.
Favorite: It's Raining Men
Least favorite: It's Heaven and Hell (Being Geri Halliwell) |
 | Victoria Beckham - Let Your Head Go/This Groove
The owners of my local music store stan for the Spice Girls, and especially for Victoria. I already had her only album, and it slays, so I bought her 2003 CD single too.
Favorite: Let Your Head Go

 | Hilary Duff - Breathe In. Breathe Out.
I was so happy when Hilary finally came back. "Reach Out" is one of my favorite songs of all time and I just couldn't wait. She didn't let me down: she served a solid pop album filled with catchy songs. Sadly, the abandoned the project the week after its release.
