I think when O'Malley decided to run, he underestimated the power of Hillary and the establishment's decision to near-unanimously support her. He also probably underestimated Bernie's ability to rally the leftists and the youth. He may just be holding out until Iowa and New Hampshire for pride at this point. He doesn't wanna look like the losers Webb & Chaffe, who couldn't even make it that far. When you just look at O'Malley, he seems very presidential. He would have been an amazing candidate in 2004. But the Democratic party has changed a lot since then.
Also, the veep will be a minority, most likely a Hispanic man. Gone are the days of two whites on a ticket, at least for the Democrats.
