This is the movie that killed Star Wars.

It was an awful rehash of the original trilogy. Mess at Rey knowing how to use the force so quickly (fighting and convincing people to set her free) Mess at the fact that Kylo Ren is non intimidating once he took his helmet off. Mess at there being a new Death Star with the same weak point. Mess at Rey defeating Kylo (someone who has been training for well over a decade) within a minute. Mess at Leia and Hans chemistry. It's gone and cringe worthy. Mess at there being 0 struggle to blow up the Death Planet. Mess at A Storm Trooper waking up one day and deciding we wants to be good. Mess at the character development being non existent. Mess at them copying Luke / Darth Vader connection with Han Solo and Kylo.

Y'all are on the hype train. It's time to get off it and realize that this was a brainless"action packed" flick that is a copy of the original three - but with a thinner plot.

The force has always been calling to Rey, she just had to let it in. Kylo even says that she's just beginning to harness her powers and is starting to get more powerful. Mess at you not realising that Kylo got shot by Chewie, was bleeding and that Finn managed to hurt him during his lightsaber fight with him so Rey had an advantage

Reys Dream clearly implied she was present at Lukes Jedi academy when Kylo Ren and his crew slaughtered the pupils, and she is clearly skilled in weapon combat as demonstrated 20 mins into the movie, but sure, untrained.

I'm on the Rey Kenobi bandwagon atm, but I wouldn't be surprised if she turned out to not be related to anyone and just had her surname hidden to fuel speculation.

Okay, I remember Darth Plagueis not being human though? I just checked Wookieepedia and realised his information has been changed and some pieces of information taken out. Maybe he might have a connection to Snoke after all

I really hope in the next few movies we get a massive battle involving plenty of Jedi and Sith. You see information about The Sith Wars in the EU and it all just sounds so epic with hundreds of sith and Jedi just battling it out.

It'd be cool if Luke's time away was actually training a whole academy of Jedi (to avoid what happened last time considering Kylo Ren destroyed it all) and Snoke had a bigger surprise awaiting. Just letting my imagination run wild!

But I'm so pleased that the protagonist is a woman. She reminds me a lot of Bastilla Shan.

No. That was the old Jedi Order that imposed that limitations on family. In the EU explanation, they believed that the kind of love Anakin and Padme shared, it's the most selfist kind of love. A contradiction to the way of the Force that's taught by the Jedi. An ancient mode of thinking that was discarded when Yoda trained Luke; so it's safe to assume that Jedi are allowed families (even in this new established canon).

Yeah that was the old Jedi Order rule. Besides, much of the information stored at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was destroyed during the Great Jedi Purge by Palpatine, which would of prevented Luke from knowing that.

It was a nice movie overall. It felt a bit dragging in the middle but the beginning and end were really exciting. Rey and Finn are really interesting characters and I'm really interested to see how they unfold, especially with their connections to the Force. Two characters that disappointed me though were Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma. Phasma looked like such a flop despite her promotion and I didn't really like Kylo Ren's character. Other villains like Darth Maul and Palpatine were villainous but were very interesting, but Kylo Ren just came off a bit whiney to me and Adam Driver looks like Moises Arias. We'll *hopefully* see more of his character in the next episode, though.

Also the ending was so iconic. I wonder how much they had to pay good sis Mark Hamill for that cameo

Although it was pretty obvious during the movie that Luke would be in the final scene, I was kind of screaming at the whole thing Mark Hamill hamming it up on the red carpet for that short ass scene

I really love Rey's character. I feel like she is the lost and confused protagonist Anakin should of been. I was so sad when Han died, legit teared up . Overall I loved the story and im glad Abrams did a great job. Cant wait for the next two parts

I went to see it last night, and honestly, I was AMAZED. It was incredible. As someone who has been a fan of the franchise since they were about 4 or 5, I've waited a long time for this movie, and the expectations were very high. The film did not disappoint at all, and it triggered an emotional response that only a classic Star Wars film could. Whether or not it was as good as the Original Trilogy remains to be seen, but as someone who actually really enjoyed the Prequel Trilogy, this film puts them all to shame. It was FANTASTIC. It made me smile, laugh, cry, and everything in between.

Okay, onto the spoilers.... A few things.

1. I noticed a lot of people considered Captain Phasma to be a MASSIVE disappointment. I mean... She did get hyped up like she was going to be this really epic villain and she wasn't, but to be honest, I kind of expected her to have a small role in this film that kind of gradually increases in every film. However, she literally did NOTHING in this film. She didn't have a single action sequence, and that was disappointing. I mean... She didn't even put up a fight when Han, Chewie, and Finn captured her and locked her up. So, that was a bit disappointing, but I'm positive she's going to become more significant later on.

2. I LOVE Rey. She's an incredible character and so likable and relatable. I think she's going to grow so much over the course of the next three films. Going in there, I had suspicions she'd be connected to the Skywalkers or Solos somehow. I was convinced she was Kylo Ren's sister, but both Leia and Han never mentioned a daughter. What I found strange, however, was the fact that when she picked up the lightsaber and had the vision, she saw the Knights of Ren after slaughtering the Jedi, and then when her family was leaving or whatever and Kylo Ren was talking. So, was he the one that like, took her family or something? He can't be that much older than her because he's 30 years old or less, based on the timeline of the films. But I thought he was talking during that instant. So, I do wonder what the deal was there.

3. I was shocked that they just flat out said Kylo Ren was Han and Leia's son. And I cried so hard when Kylo Ren killed Han.... I also think that the whole thing about the identities of Finn and Rey being a secret as well might be a bit of a mistake. I don't want it to become overkill if they decide that Rey is a Skywalker or something, and then give Finn a secret identity or something, too, like making him Lando's son. One of the main characters needs to just come from a normal background. But they also need to explain at some point what happened to Lando because they even brought back Rebels like Ackbar and Nien Numb without any explanation for where Lando went.

no but on a serious note seeing it a second time was amazing. there was so much i missed the first time! plus it was great to see people's reaction to different things

Captan Phasma feels SO much like another Boba Fett situation except people are actually noticing it. I mean people tend to instantly stan Boba Fett for some reason when he barely did ANYTHING in the original trilogy. He only is really impressive in the Expanded Universe. I hope we get expanded universe stories/books/comics about Captain Phasma too.
