Why did Janet have four year breaks between albums during her peak? She should've released an album in 1995 and 1999.
Her eras were long af. The janet. era didn't really finish until the spring of 95 when the album left the BB200. DOAD came later that year. And the TVR era didn't end until early 99 cuz she was still on tour I believe.
I would be mad @ the lack of singles from Unbreakable but: a) I'm grateful we even got it and b) it's just the next in a long line of Janet albums that haven't been represented as well as they should have been by their singles.
With an avi like that and the taste I know you possess from SYG, I would expect better from your ass. What'll I Do is a janet. highlight and the Dave Navarro Mix slays too.
I don't know. What'll I Do isn't as unlistenable as, say, Whoops Now (), but like... Eh.
I could write essays about how janet. is by far her best work. I can't believe what I'm reading right now. But Whoops Now is trash, I'll give you that.
I don't dislike janet. but I'm just somewhat indifferent to it and it's probably the one I like the least of her Control through TVR run of albums. It's still good, but... Eh.
This Time, If, Throb, Any Time, Any Place, Funky Big Band >>>
That being said, janet. has grown on me the past few months but it's still nothing compared to RN1814, TVR, Control, or even Unbreakable for me. Far too much filler.
Damita Jo, 20 Y.O., and Discipline get far too much hate. They're far from being great, I just think that because they came after such a strong run of albums, they're under even more scrutiny.
Damita Jo has great moments.
I definitely wouldn't say it's better than Unbreakable or GODtrol, though.
Discipline/20.Y.O have some great little moments - Feedback, This Body, Daybreak, Rock With You, Can't B Good - but overall they were nowhere near what they should have been.
