Something clearly happened that night, maybe he threatened to beat her and was behaving violently, thats classified as an assault too. She is just stating that he didnt, and what media made out of it is not true. And the Rolling Stone interview posted by Travis here (of which I was not aware myself until now)

That's not true. She did a huge interview just this year about how things are way harder for her than LGBT people and black people based on her age. That's playing the victim.

She told that there was much bigger progress made in LGBT rights and fighting racism, but that ageism is not even acknowledged by many as a problem and that it has to change. And to say that a woman in her 50s has it really hard in the pop music business, like facing age restrictive radio bans and such can hardly be considered playing the victim hun.

If a rape victim speaking about their rape is "playing the victim", so is whining about imaginary ageism and comparing it to actual issues such as racism and homophobia in order to justify why people don't care anymore.
