Everyone in the LGBTQ community is low-key selfish except for the lesbians. And then the gays trash them for "having it easier" in a society where women are looked down upon and their sexuality is seen as a fad or phase that a penis can cure. No shade.

You shouldn't assume your child is straight because it goes much deeper than that initial assumption.

Assuming your child is straight, you're going to say things to your son about marrying a woman and planning his straight future.

If your child is not straight, at which point you DON'T know yet, imagine the weight and burden of those expectations.

Imagine him thinking his mother wants and expects him to be straight and he's not. Imagine him dealing with that while trying to navigate his own sense of self and comes to terms with his sexuality.

You're also going to apply this "straight assumption" theory to others, naturally. This is counterproductive to fostering an environment where an LGBT child would feel safe(r) about revealing their sexuality.

It's a chain process. How are you not seeing this and you're a member of our community?

Do you know how many kids would have been much different if they had a different family environment, one that promotes LGBT acceptance or gave the exposure to let them know it's okay?

It was a gradual thing. My wardrobe became more feminine over time, I stopped getting haircuts etc so I never really asked for permission. And it wasn't even a conscious thing where I was like "I'm gonna transition now", it was more like "Hmm, I think I'll wear dress today". And I've pretty much always had the freedom to do my own shopping and stuff, so.

I'd have absolutely no problem with a gay child. But having the natural, human assumption that my child is straight and doing things that a typically straight person if that genre would do is not wrong and you aren't convincing me otherwise. Do what you want with your kids, and I'll do what I want with mine.

My lesbian cousin is way more fun than my straight-laced Christian gay cousins. Going out clubbing with her is way more fun than either of them combined. Still think it is strange that every female Taylor I have met turned out being a lesbian though.
