They probably didn't want it to compete with xtina's xmas album since she was actually getting promo performances and such.

i think they were more focused on making sure OIDIA sold 200k-500k during the holidays and promoting OIDIA.

When you think about it once BOMT took off OIDIA as she said she had not much time to think about it so she had little time to make that album so I doubt she'd have time for that album.

Xtina's album sold 1 million in the U.S., Britney would've sold at least 3-4 million tbh.

You have a valid point. It wouldn't have made sense for her to do one in 2002, 2003 and 2004 either. Then her life got real busy the years after... Even if she did one during those years, it would've been awkward because her image was starting to become a bit edgy.

It would've been like Rihanna making an Xmas album or Gaga making one in 2011.

that's the main thing.
late 1999 it would cut into her sales and she was hustling promoting
late 2000 it would cut into her sales
late 2001 it would have cut into her sales during a transition era
late 2002 MIGHT have been a good time because the cry me a river attention came about but it hadn't shifted her image until 2003 where people accept him and it forever tarnished her image.
so that counter that, put out an xmas album after a 4x platinum era and do the press addressing the timberlake accusations then re-focusing on the xmas album and she still would have gotten alot of britney era stans support.

anything after that would be a hard sell. Maybe 2009 but even then not so sure unless she did a song and video with her two boys. that would have been a good sell

4Q 2002 would've been the best time since it was the first year she didn't release an album & the Brit era was coming to an end. But like BCYS said, she was edgy & sexual at that time so it would've been a weird era go be in between Britney & ITZ. She could've done an awesome video for Santa Baby though.

2002 and 2009 seemed to be the best times.

both times wouldn't have cannibalized sales from the studio album.
2002 could have been used to counter cry me a river before it really grew legs and in 2003 tarnished her image.

2009 could have the effect with her two boys. BUT she didn't really have a wholesome image in 2008 to where it would really pull off.

OMG Adele is SO making a xmas album.

True. I'm thinking a santa baby and I'm sure max martin could have made a come hither tease xmas song too in 2002.

I feel like a Christmas album is still something she could do. It might even be better now because of her having kids & not wanting to be as risqué anymore. She could still pull off a sexy video for Santa Baby and maybe I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and do some of the fun songs for her kids to enjoy. She'd have to do some classics too but she'd have to train her voice for them.

Don't think I've listened to it in full since the beginning of 2014 I still listen to a few individual tracks (Alien, Work Bitch, Til It's Gone and Hold On Tight) but I don't think I could stomach playing it from start to finish again.
