These are the things that I will NEVER forget about being a monster:
•the 2009 VMAs and AMAs performance catching my interest in Gaga, whereas I had previously HATED her.
•trying to get myself interested in Gaga in late 2009 by trying to listen to her songs on YouTube. I distinctly recall not being able to listen to the songs The Fame or Monster all the way through.
•laying in bed at midnight on November 23, 2009 downloading Rated R and being pissed off because Gaga was gonna block Rihanna from getting a #1 debut.
•watching the Telephone video premiere on E! at 11:35pm with the volume turned down really low on a Thursday night and then frantically waiting to be able to buy it on iTunes.
•accidentally waking up early the day before my 17th birthday, ending up laying in bed for 2 hours reading the transcript of Gaga’s SHOWstudio interview as it was posted online and then writing a song called “Born This Way” after seeing her say that in the interview.
•watching the Alejandro video for the first time and thinking, “WHAT THE FUUUUUU-----------???!”
•sitting on the couch at 10:50pm finishing my homework, sitting there with all ten of my fingers crossed hoping that “Video of the Year” would be Bad Romance and then wondering “is that meat?” as Gaga walked up to the stage and then hearing “It’s called Born This Way” and then seeing that one tear go down Gaga’s cheek just before she sang “I’m beautiful in my way, cause God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track, baby, I was born this way.”
•being extremely disappointed to hear that Born This Way wouldn’t come out until May.
•literally shaking for over 15 minutes when I found out that Edge of Glory was a real song on Born This Way.
•watching Gaga walk down the runway better than professional models while Government Hooker played and I held my monster paw up for the entire 17 minute show.
•laying in bed at 4am listening to 93.3 FLZ on iheartradio as they played an epic mashup of different Gaga songs over and over again while they got ready to play Born This Way for the first time… and then they played LoveGame before Born This Way started and by the end, I was beyond addicted and spent two hours laying in bed listening to it.
•watching the Born This Way video for the first time and thinking, “WHAT THE FUUUUUU-----------???!”
•waking up one morning to hear terrible quality snippets of leaked Judas and then getting home from school to find the full song had leaked, dancing around my room like a madman as it played.
•9.61 playing Dance in the Dark and Second Time Around on the radio during their Gaga hour.
•coming home from school after miserably failing my AP Physics exam to find my mentions and dms full of “EDGE OF GLORY <3” and then dancing around the entire house and singing along before I had even finished listening to it for the first time.
•the excitement of impending Gagavisions driving me to stay up literally all night.
•all of the friends who I’ve made on twitter, brought together through our love of Gaga, who I am more open and friendly with than I’ve ever been with just about anyone in my life.
