IPB only allows avatars and cover photos to be stored on the server. If you compare it with what we have now as "Primary Avatars", the limit is jumping from 40kbs to 1mb. That kind of jump may have a big hit on server performance, so we can't just raise the limit to whatever we want. We need to evaluate overall performance post-launch and work it out along the way.
The high quality avatar system we have now uses external links, so the file size doesn't impact performance at all, but it's not supported in IPB because it's far more vulnerable to malware. Just this year we were blacklisted by Google for that reason.
We have some ideas for better solutions, but for now, don't expect an increase. Cover photos will have a set limit as well (during the beta it was unlimited).
I was supposed to go alone backpack style but I found my friend from South Korea at the Kortrijk station so I went with her and her friend Her friend took us everywhere, we ate at this restaurant, took lots of pictures, saw the canals and the swans. It was great. I love the trains too.
So many people bashing their own graphics when they look good.
