This is literal facts. Why would we pay for something that is accessible to us for free? Hence why Urban music in general doesn't sell nearly as much as pop music. The only time black music sells a shitload is when its supported by white people. Hence why the black rappers that do numbers? Are because of the support of the whites. Drake? Jcole? Nelly and 50 during their prime? Etc. are pushing way bigger numbers than Fabolous, Jadakiss, Young Jeezy etc.
Hence why the biggest black artists are the ones that are the most mainstream like Bey or cater most to the white audience like Rihfund.
Just look at the Weeknd. Hes been on the scene to us blacks for years now but he only started pushing major numbers once the white hipsters got a hold of him
