It doesn't show that more albums were going diamond than not in 1997-2000 for someone to say that all albums were going diamond.
More albums is not the same as all albums.
And still doesn't show that anyone and everyone was capable of achieving that EVEN during the highest sales climate.
How is this a struggle to understand?

The actual sales of 2 > 1.
So if adele's 25 went 15x platinum then her peak album sales is bigger than a 14x platinum album or lower.
the same way shania's 20x platinum album is a higher peak in album sales than the best selling female artist of all time Madonna's 10x platinum peak album sales.
