I'm not saying Prince is racist but I really think his issue with her is that she's got white privilege and people treat her that way because they can. Like has he not been exposed to her talents? He just seems really unimpressed with her and I find it kind of unfair.

Yeah, Kevin Smith's stories about him implies he doesn't care for white people, lol. It was a long story, but when he was commissioned to film stuff for Prince there was this Q&A at Paisley Park that Kevin had to moderate because Prince didn't show up:
Quote:
We're going on for about three hours.
One guy says, "This album's about how Prince hates white people."
I said, "Really? I didn't get that at all. What makes you say that?"
He says, "He's singing about how the devil stole it."
I said, "No, he's not talking about the 'white devil,' but this devil *does devil horns*
I don't think it's a race thing. Really? Race? Do you think so?"

Then when he asked Prince himself about it:
Quote:
Then he says, "These are pictures from the show last night."
I said, "That's great. We needed you about two hours ago. Things got tense."
He says, "Really?"
"Some dude said you hate white people."
He said, "Why did he say that?"
I said, "In the album, you talk about how the devil stole the music.
He said you meant the 'white devil.' I said you meant this" *does devil horns*
He said, "He said white people stole music from black people?"
I said, "That was his argument." He goes, "If the bra fits."
And I'm like, "What the **** does that mean, man?!
If the bra ****ing fits? I'm sweating for hours fielding questions. . .
. . .defending your Jehovah's Witnessism even though I know nothing about
it.
Don't talk to me like I'm ****ing Apollonia!

So in Prince's mind, Gaga is probably the white devil. Why he supports white women pretending to be black like Rita Ora remains a mystery though. Gaga with her eurodance & broadway leanings is definitely not the most appropriative pop star out there, so I don't get his problem.
