UH, yes. Fans went to watch "X-Men: Days of Future Past" for Michael Fassbender and critics have all agreed that Michael Fassbender and his portrayal of Magento in "X-Men: First Class" single-handedly revived the entire "X-Men" franchise. Remember, "X-Men: First Class" was supposed to be the beginning of an entirely new trilogy and not connected to the old "X-Men" franchise in any way. That's why Michael Fassbender was told by the director that he didn't have to mimic Ian McKellen's affectations, accent, or mannerisms. It was only AFTER "X-Men: First Class" was a critical and commercial success (again, critics give credit to Fassbender's portrayal) that they obnoxiously decided to merge the critically-acclaimed "X-Men: First Class" series with the trash "X-Men" films from the talentless Bryan Singer series ("X2" is good).
Michael Fassbender was silently fuming about the merger, because he said in an interview for "Days of Future Past" that it was now "ridiculous" for him to play his original Magneto from "First Class" since they changed the direction and his character will now be directly connected to Ian McKellen's Magneto. So if you watch "Days of Future Past" you can see and hear how Fassbender acts and sounds closer to Ian McKellen than in "First Class." In "First Class," Fassbender sounded and leaned more toward German, but now in "Days of Future Past," Fassbender sounds and leans more toward British, to match Ian McKellan.
In conclusion, fans went to see "X-Men: Days of Future Past" for Magneto and are going to see "X-Men: Apocalypse" for Magneto, Psylocke, and Archangel. Fans hate Wolverine and no one is going to see "X-Men" for Jennifer Lawrence. If that was the case, tickets would have been doubled, since "she's so huge" with bringing in tweens who loved "The Hunger Games" (which she isn't, that's why ticket sales weren't doubled). Hopefully they don't ruin Magneto by overusing him like they did with Wolverine, though. Meanwhile, fans HATE the fact that Channing Tatum is playing Gambit.
