Girl, little kids were doing it. It was the shiny ball syndrome YOu don't need decades to figure out how to steal something for our benefit.
I know for a fact that many people were cannibalizing album sales by using napster instead of buying albums and singles in the store.
The flaw is that you are equating something used at the peak of it's beginning to something used now and stating that now it's more impactful.
Napster was massive during the peak of album sales so the excuses are silly to pretend it didn't exist.
everyone was against Lars from metallica because he dared to speak out for musicians.
I remember that lame commercial they had to let hte people know they are stealing from artists.
THEY KNEW and had no problem doing so.
