Well in her peak Gaga shaded Britney so the "like" isn't so sincere.

Britney like Usher was influenced by MJ and JJ. Britney was also influenced by Madonna/Paula adbul and toni braxton. However, she didn't copy and pasted she took their strengths and modernized it with a souther girl charm and took it in a different direction or another leve.
For instance, crazy is such a fun youth driven choreography. She didn't copy/paste the way Beyonce did at her VMAs 06 performance which she copy pasted britney's 2003 amas performance. She took influence from Janet and made it youthful and fun when janet was usually fierce and serious.
Reinvention is taking an old concept and taking it to another level.
Same with Oops...the catsuit serves barbarella but also Madonna's human nature in black. She does it in red and is less serious and angry and more playful and flirtatious
this is how you take an old concept and apply it in a different way
Brave new girl...the instrumental low key serves madonna's material girl. I just begun having my fun low key serves MJ billie jean beat but yet it's totally Britney.
It's not her taking 80s madonna/90s ace of base and sounding like a sample or a cover artist.

You don't copy/paste you take the concept and bring more life and a new perspective that is a hit.
