PRISM did wonders for her celebrity.

Teenage Dream had singles sales and sort of album sales but not much else.

PRISM had singles (not as many smashes, but Roar and DH were bigger than any TD hit), albums (good for 2013/2014), celebrity and touring.

Katy needs to study the market to know when to release both the lead single and the album. For example, I don't think she would want to release something now that Adele is destroying everyone.

May is probably the best time for the lead single, earlier would have been better but Adele releasing means any earlier and she'd be completely overshadowed by her. Any later though and then Taylor would curbstomp her too, so a TD-like release schedule is probably best. She's gonna need all the help she can get to not bomb this era, going up against competition she can't win against would be really dumb

I'd love to see her incorporate more orchestral instruments into her music like she's been doing with her private performances recently. After all Firework has become her biggest classic and it has strings in the pre-chorus
