In terms of northern Asia they aren't far off the Chinese for darkest skin. Only the Japanese rock genuinely pale skin, it's just the Korean beauty standard that calls for white skin as more appealing, so a lot of Koreans aim for it. The same way tan skin is considered more attractive to Americans.

Either way I don't think he does, if anything the picture on the right is about the most stereotypically asian you can get. Show that to anyone and they'd never consider he was anything but Chinese, probably.
