Here, walking and bicycling are most common, with buses a bit behind. There are bus stops everywhere though.

Cambridge is very dense, so it's not a far trip.

I've always imagined houses in the suburbs to be really deserted. Like, you have to drive for a good 15 minutes before reaching the nearest town facility (school, clinic etc.).

When I went I was only about a mile away from school so I just walked to and from school everyday. For my area, I believe you have to be 2 miles away from school to get picked up by the school buses. But for the normal buses not related to school, yeah I remember there were 3 bus stops that I always passed by, and I did see some students taking them after the day was done. Not sure if there's any trains around here.
