I believe Adele is pretty genuine at heart. She was obviously pressured into this over years by people who stand to profit from her. She's so insecure. This album is about as much hers as a typical Rihanna album belongs to her. You can tell others wrote it for the most part. It doesn't share the lyricism of 21 at all. But who really expected, or even wanted, evolution from her? Hello has the best radio call outs ever, significantly better than even RITD. She (they) gave people what they wanted. And I still argue that she is the most magical vocalist in a long time.

The great irony is that people are saying she's single handedly saving music when the Adele Effect has probably done as much harm to the rest of industry at large as one can do.

But I don't think Adele's malicious, she probably just wants to be liked by everyone - she strikes me as being very insecure.

1. True. Everyone is just by default going into a frenzy. I'm convinced Adele could have released Teenage Dream and it would have gotten a 70+ MC score, etc.

the wearisome “my love can fix them” “Remedy,” drum-heavy, drawn-out subservience on “I Miss You” and the jumbled torchiness of “When We Were Young” — these songs function like parties full of too many people, from too many different groups.

I find myself wondering again and again on 25 where Adele’s friends are? The ones who gently, firmly, over many, many whiskeys explain to her the ways this dude was not good to her. How she’s worth more than this. How this kind of codependence stems from a lack of self-love, and maybe she should explore that?

Nah BTW sold because of hype and then fizzled and is now completely forgotten. Its callout scores were never good. People actually love Hello. Like really, really love it.
