Album Review
Hello - LOVE this. Her second best single after the legendary classic RITD. I think it was the perfect comeback choice. I mean, 'hello, it's me' alone >. 10/10
Send My Love (To Your New Lover) - I'm not sure if I love or hate this song. Her vocals slay, but I just don't think the full-on Taylor Swift-esque sound suits her. 6/10
I Miss You - I was NOT expecting to like this as much as I do. The intro is EVERYTHING, and so haunting. The chorus has been stuck in my head ever since I heard it, which is weird because it's not even my favourite song from this album! 9/10
When We Were Young - I prefer the live acoustic version to the original, but its rightfully one of the main standouts on this album, and I think this is one of Adele's best ever vocal performances. I think its the SLY of this album. 9/10
Remedy - I feel EXACTLY the same way about this as I do with 'Send My Love'. I don't know if I love or hate it. As soon as I heard the intro, I thought 'Turning Tables 2.0' (not a bad thing seeing as that's one of the best songs of her career). I do, however, agree with the comments that say it sounds like a 21 left-over. 7/10
Water Under the Bridge - Another album highlight. I think the 'if you're gonna let me down, let me down gently' part is one of her most addictive hooks/choruses. I think this should be the 3rd single. 9/10
River Lea - I didn't like the snippet of this at first, but the full version won me over. The bridge and the chorus are the main winning points in this song, for me. And I was getting major Florence and the Machine vibes. I would LIVE for a Florence cover/collab with Adele for this song. 8/10
Love in the Dark - The violins are holy. Her songwriting is impeccable, but it's not one of my favourites. 7/10
Million Years Ago - THIS. IS. EVERYTHING. My favourite track on the album. I was ALL up in every single one of my feels. This was also the snippet that I loved the most. I also got major Daydreamer-esque vibes for some reason. The most stripped-back of all the songs (along with AIA), this is where I think Adele's true strengths are, the stripped-back, acoustic-style songs. It allows her vocal talents to really shine through. 10/10
All I Ask - Queen was going for a full-on diva ballad, and that is what it is. Once again, the lyrics are incredible, and her vocals are absolutely phenomenal. Arguably her greatest vocal. 9/10
Sweetest Devotion - Queen was singing for her WHOLE life in that chorus and I was HERE for it. This is the perfect closer to the album; upbeat and happy - in my opinion, it's her way of saying she has the 'happy ending', in so far that, 19 was about a lost love, 21 expanded on that and then some, but this song to me signifies that she is now genuinely truly happy. 9/10
Overall: 9/10
