Iran is tied up in a deal and doesn't have any nuclear bombs. None of the Middle Eastern countries have declared war to the Western countries. Not even Syria. It just happens that ISIS is located there.

No countries will be retaliating because France is not fighting against any country.

Regardless whether or not this was a good move, it boggles my mind why they haven't done this earlier. (If this is the message they are trying to send). They are after all in war with the Islamic State and apparently they have known this information for quite some while now, because it seems highly unlikely that they have obtained it in a span of a day.

Thanks for the response. I edited my post slightly because I realise ISIS isn't necessarily capable of that on its own. We hear about these air attacks all the time that the western world are involved in and it never really dawned on me until recently what the reality of that situation must be like for the innocent that live(d) there.

That's true. But see Al Qaeda. I'm sure they still have their loyal followers but they've been weakened so badly that their whole structure is gone and they're no longer able to terrorize like they were before. Hopefully the same thing happens to ISIS.
