Given those circumstances, I think they did an OK job.

I am such a blind stan I remember really liking the Birthday MV when it came out
Even my 8 year old sister who also stans Katy disliked it.
And then when after the BB Awards "performance" live from her tour she rose to 11 on iTunes and we were thinking it would be a hit

There is nothing too bad about the Roar and DH videos, they're very Teenage Dream era. I mean, her stans that succumbed to the "mature" music argument may want other stuff but her core audience was fine with them.
