Just because we don't know does not mean it's not common knowledge that first week sales benefit artists immensely. Most people hate paying full price for something -- why buy it next week when you can buy it the week it is cheaper? Also... the price on iTunes is the same price in the physical stores that have the discount, so it's not even full price. It's originally $15.99, while iTunes is $12.99.

There is nothing 1D did wrong that made them look bad. Justin's the only one pushing for #1 by discounting an album so low.

But actually, the special thing about this version is that it's housed in a digipak instead of a jewel case. (I've seen pics). The Target editions are avaliable in Jewel cases.

No one outside of the stan world (normal people) are even going to know or care who gets the number 1. Its all about who had the most successful songs and which album is the best quality. The GP could not give two f**ks about first week sales/charts.
