Badlands is good, idk why ATRL suddenly started hating her like a month ago? I saw Halsey live when she opened for Imagine Dragons and she was great. Who the **** cares if she mixes alternative and pop, she does it well.

That's all I've needed I've heard snippets, seen performances, I just don't get it. I think she's smart, but that's about it. Give me a song to listen to and maybe I'll change my mind. I listened to ha EP and that was decent at best, and like you said, I couldn't force myself to listen to Badlands.

She cannot sell tragic femme fatale well at all. Strange Love being the worst, with me literally CRYING out in condescending amusement over the lyrics.

Pretentious is-for once-the perfect word to describe Halsey. Don't confuse pretentiousness for ATRL's definition of it (Basically meaning you don't talk or think in an orthodox manner or you use elevated speech.), she fits the dictionary definition:

THIS. Her narratives are just total garbage, she can't make me care about people knowing that "she made out in the bathroom" or whatever the lyric is. She tries to act like she doesn't care, but by doing so, she shows that she does.

Btw she's totally a pop act but so is Lana because "alternative" "indie" are not genres. When you're reviewing CDs as part of your obligations for a radio station and you get records like these labeled as alternative, you come to realize how that label means nothing.

I love Halsey's personality though I need more acts who don't just regurgitate "Love my fans!/I love singer _____!/I promise to look like I give a ****/am gracious/will continue working hard!!!1111!!" and are OK with sticking their foot in their mouths sometimes
