nnnnn a reverse Pyramids experience. I'm so sorry Vilpoo, I didn't know!
Personally, my issue with the song is admittedly that it's 11 minutes long. I think that if a song is gonna hit the double digit mark, there has to be something about it that blows the rest of the album out of the water and really deserved 10+ minutes. Have One On Me, for me, was just another Joanna song. Still great, but not 11 minutes great.
The twelfth song on The Suburbs, "Deep Blue" is a thoughtful ballad described as "Neil Young meets Depeche Mode". The song's title is taken from an IBM supercomputer named a Deep Blue which defeated a world chess champion. Lyrically, the track is about the increasingly mechanized world as Win and Regine urge you to "put the laptop down for a while" The song was recently used in the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed film Boyhood.
"Deep Blue"'s elimination means it's end for The Suburbs' album tracks, only three of their singles remain.
Best bit: I can almost remember singing la la la la la la Best lyrics: "We watched the end of the century / Compressed on a tiny screen /A dead star collapsing and we could see"
I think this is the furthest an 11 of mine ever made so I am not even complaining.
Truthfully there were at least 10 tracks worthy of an 11 but I had to pick this because it was used at the end of Boyhood, one of the best movies ever, which made me love it even more.
You could've never predicted that it could see through you
Kasparov Deep Blue 1996 <- one of the smartest lyric ever.
