And it sold NOTHING outside of US, where as Shakira hasn't had a spanish album sell less than 2 million ever?
The problem with LMLYD is that it was attached to the Fifty Shades soundtrack for the longest time, and it already did quite a good job of selling that album, alongside Earned It. That song was probably not going to sell this album too. The same thing happened last year to Charli XCX.

Tove Lo should've kept LMYLYD for herself. She's so stupid--though I agree that Ellie is kind of perfect for the song.
If it wasn't Ellie, it would've gone to Demi. I don't see it commercially as big if Demi sang it (it would've been scream-y too)
Tove Low was one of the many writers on the track, she added a few lyrics. That song is way too obvious a smash for a C-list artist like her to record it The other writers would have never let her keep it.
