This is also true. After the first 3 books were done the 4th one was literally insufferable, took me several months to finish it. Stick with the story, I wont even buy the new books when they come out

Considering how long George takes writing those books, the next might come in 2017 or when the show itself ends. But doesn't George also oversee the story in the show?
They are great, though probably not as dymanic as the show (there are quite a lot of flashbacks). The psychological aspect is impressive with all those POVs. The last two books ARE messy and subpar, but when you're hooked on, it's not a problem.
