ATRL Calendar
This could help keep everyone on the site informed of important pop culture events such as album release dates, award shows and maybe even games or ATRL events like ATRL Halloween. By raising awareness, it would also help people discover new music (if they see an interesting sounding album being released and then go to listen to it) and encourage them to participate in certain events/threads. In addition, as it would be open for everyone to contribute, this team effort would bring the ATRL community closer together.
Everyone would have a personal calendar on their profile that they could customise with their own events and appointments. ATRL users love customising, as one can see in the Your Top Ten/Best Of threads as well as ATRL+ users' profiles, plus a lot of people love organising their schedule and keeping track of concerts etc, so I can see this being very popular. These personal appointments would not be added to the overall ATRL calendar and only be visible on the user profile.

However, certain events which are relevant to all of us - album releases, birthdays, award shows etc - would be public and appear in a news ticker style animated calendar bar at the top of ATRL for everyone to see:

This could really be fun to update, and as everyone could contribute it would not depend on one single person keeping track of it. The mods would also be involved to make sure that only confirmed events and releases are added. It would help ATRL look more sophisticated and organised.

Today, 4:00 PM | Suggestion for ATRL Upgrade - Sticky OP
Administrators,
As you prepare to migrate over to the new version of ATRL, I have a small idea that I hope is implemented with the upgrade.
The purpose of ATRL, mainly, is to have discussions and participate in various topics within the threads – the main holding place for replies and such. I’ve noticed that most posts are based on what the actual topic or question is. Personally, I think that discussions would flow much better if the first post, or OP as many of us refer to it, would appear at the top of every page of the entire thread. This would be similar to the sticky threads idea that we see when opening the sub-forums, but instead, it would be a “Sticky OP.” Since the first post is where the majority of the content of the thread originates, it makes sense for this to be seen throughout the progression of the thread, especially for those that become “hit” threads (with many, seemingly endless pages).
Sitcky OP - Why Is It Needed? I feel this would be a great necessity to ATRL because it would greatly relieve a lot of user's frustrations from clicking back to the first page to, for example, obtain a streaming link while watching an awards show (Celebria - Special Events - "omg streaming link plz???"), look at this week's Hot 100 rankings (Charts - Chart Listings - "full chart?"), or watching a video by a major pop artist that's just been released (Videos - Music Video). Ultimately, the inclusion of the stickied OP will allow for easier conversations through the thread while minimizing the tasks of regressing to the first page to "get" all of the information/media needed.
Here are a few screenshots of what the idea looks like:
(please click images for larger resolution)

Figure 1

Figure 2
It's pretty self-explanatory. The first post of the thread (fig. 1) will be "stickied," or follow, on each page of the thread (fig. 2). This way, users have the chance to see what's been started and can easily discuss the topics pertaining to the thread. Users can share their comments while being able to see the content and lessen the habit of opening multiple tabs on their browsers.
Sticky OP would also be a welcomed feature for those who frequently use mobile, considering that you're directed to the very last page of a thread when clicking on a link to a thread in the top 3 most active threads box. This would be great especially for new video releases by main artists:

Hopefully you'll consider the suggestion. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Suggested Threads
If there's something that ATRL doesn't need, it's more clutter. Threads that are constantly remade because the older ones expired, discussions that happen every two weeks, etc. And Lord protect us from the threads of the 2015 members (no shade, but history repeats itself!). Luckily, there is a simple way to rectify this: A Suggested Threads bar.
How it Would Work
As seen in the image above, it would provide 4-5 links to threads based on what you have replied to most in the last 3 days. This would be done using a common word search algorithm similar to the one used when making a thread. What keeps this from being inundated with all new threads is that it only links to topics that are at least 24 hours old.
Benefits
- Would link users to relevant discussions across multiple different sections of ATRL, getting members involved in areas they don't normally post in.
- Right now, once a thread reaches page 2 of a section, it's pretty much dead. The Suggested Threads feature would give these older topics a second chance.
- Wouldn't greatly inhibit ATRL's load time since it's just an extension of the already existing search function.
- Not requiring any intensive redesigning, this feature would fit seamlessly into the current site or the new version if/when God deems us worthy.
- Makes it simpler and easier for newer and older members to jump into discussions and get involved with the community.
